BHADERWAH,MAR 23—Youth Action Committee Bhaderwah organized a seminar ‘Importance of plants in life’ at Girls ’ higher secondary school Bhaderwah .Sub Divional Magistrate Bhaderwah Dr Owais Ahmed Rana was the chief guest on the occasion where as ASP Bhaderwah M A Salaria was guest of honour and SDPO Birjesh Salaria , BMO Dr Yudvir Singh , Xen Irrigation , Principal GHSS girls Shabnamara , Dr Javed Zargar HOD Botany GDC , Prof Prithvi Raj ,Khurshid Akhoon Manager JK Bank , senior teachers Suesh Manhas , Sajad Sarmadi , Abdul Haq , AEE PWD Attta Mohd,Abdul Hafeez Dar and Range officer Neru forest Sagar Hussain Jamwal was special invitees on the occasion . The seminar was also attended by students, teachers, army officers and local people.On the occasion, the SDM urged the people to plant more trees including fruit bearing trees in their surroundings to enhance the green cover. He said that plants have a vital role in environment and life without plants cannot be imagined. He said that plants are important for life and each person should plant at least 10 trees to enhance the green cover. ASP Bhaderwah M S Salaria said that protection of forests will ensure conservation of biodiversity and environment, adding that in this regard people’s participation are vital for this noble cause. He also said that Bhaderwah is richly endowed with diverse forest resource which plays an important role in preserving the fragile ecosystem of the region. It also serves as catchments for the Himalayan Rivers. Naseer Mehboob President YAC encouraged the students to plant more and more trees in their surroundings to make the life free from devastating environmental pollution. He further expressed his wish to organise such events in future also. As many as nine students from the school participated in the competition and threw light on the topic. Meantime a colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students of Athkar Public School Sartingal , Bhaderwah who mesmerised the audience. Later, prizes were also distributed among the meritorious participants in which first, second and third prize won by Zair Arshad of Green Model Academy , Sageeta Kotwal and Sabir Ayoub Batt respectively besides consolation prizes and free uniforms which included shoes and note books were also distributed among the participants and poor students as a goodwill gesture .All participants also planted trees in school. Mohan Singh , Rohit Sharma , Tariq Hussain Batt , Mohd Hussain , Anoop Kumar , Mohd Ramzan Paray , Neeraj Kumar , Sunil Kumar , Nasir Abas Dar , Rafit HUssain , Abdul Quyoom Bonjwai , Mohd Iqbal Khan , Adil Hussain , Gazi Shokat , Usman Rafiq , Mohd Aquib and other volunteers were also present on the occasion .
