HC issues notices on Amit Shah’s public meeting at Goa airport
The Division Bench, comprising Justices F M Reis and Nutan Sardessai, issued notices, returnable in three weeks, on a petition filed by social activist Advocate Aires Rodrigues.
The petitioner sought directions to ensure that the rule of law was upheld by holding an inquiry for fixing the responsibility and taking action in accordance with law against the organisers and those responsible for the public meeting held within the precincts of the airport.
Advocate Rodrigues had addressed a joint complaint to the Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Chief Secretary of Goa and the Director General of Police, demanding an immediate inquiry.
Submitting along with his petition, photographs of Mr Shah’s public meeting at the Airport, Advocate Rodrigues in his petition had stated that BJP on one hand claimed that all necessary permissions to hold that public meeting were obtained, while at the same time, also said that the meeting was not pre-planned, but was spontaneous.
