Srinagar,06 September 2017: A delegation of ISM doctors under the banner of AYUSH Welfare Forum, a constituent member of Indigenous Medicines Organisation , J&K .working for the welfare and development of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani. Yoga, Siddha, Homeopathy ) in the state today met Health Minister .Sh.Bali Bliagth ji at his residence. The minister gave a patient hearing to the members of the association, who briefed him in detail about the achievements of the department during previous few years. The members congratulated the Minister and the Govt. of J&K for getting approval to start the first batch of BAMS in Govt. Ayurvedic Medical college. Jammu in the State. The minister assured the delegation that shortly Govt.Unani Medical college will be commissioned by removing the deficiencies in this regard. The delegation apprised the Minister about the developments of the department which was in shambles before 2004, with no scope for new innovations and no hope of rejunvation. They informed the minister about the AYUSH facilities extending from all district hospitals to PF1Cs, CRCs, to tertiary hospitals like 50 bedded Unani Hospital Srinagar and 50 bedded Ayurvedic hospital Jammu. They highlighted the achievements of the department in last few years which can be called the golden period of AYUSH in J&K which is in the shape of 50- Beded Govt.Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu & 50-bedded Government Unani Hospital Srinagar , 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital Haman, Srinagar, Twenty Two 10-Bedded AYUSH Hospitals in District Hospitals established and about 100 ISM (Unani &Aytwedic) Dispensaries created. Hundreds of 1F.0 programs and free medical camps have been organized in last fey./ years which made AYUSH a household name in the state. Thousands of hectares of forest land was brought under conservation of Medicinal Plan.. Research publications • were introduced in Medicinal Plan. sector. Right now to boost Medicinal Plants sector from grass root level 100 school herbal gardens have been established. They also requested the minister to safeguard the assets of the AYUSH department of J&K by making it a frontrunner in providing basic Health care facilities to the masses. In the end all members thanked Honble minister for a patient hearing who assured them to make AYUSH a brand name in J&K by adding more feathers in it. The minister also assured to bring in complete transparency and accountability in the department by having performance based audit loom all concerned. He also assured that any persons propagating the negative campaign to tarnish the image of the department will be identified and strictly dealt, The Minister also assured that new creations in the department is on doe anvil. fie also informed that two 50 bedded AYUSH Hospitals will be set up during the current financial year one in Jammu and One in Kashmir Division.
