Ganderbal: Scores of labourers today protested against the district administration for deciding to lease out the mining from river Sind to extract boulders and other minerals from them, demand removal of order.
As per the reports, Scores of protesting labours demand removal of such orders, which is against their livelihood, they added that leasing out the extraction of boulders and sand in the area will hit their livelihood.
“We are highly qualified and making our livelihood from extraction of boulders and sand from the nallah sind in Central Ganderbal areas. By making new policy of leasing out the extraction to Contractors, our qualified youth, labours will get badly hit,” the protesters said.
The protested held near DC Office in Ganderbal, demanding removal the lease order and shouted slogans against the government, shouting we want justice, “Hamari Mangai Pori Karo” the protestors demanded roll back of the lease system, shouting slogans.
Hundreds of vehicles were left stranded after the protesters blocked the road near Government boys High Secondary School at Ganderbal.
Later Ganderbal police used batons and fired tear smoke shells to chase away the protesters. There were no reports of any injuries and protest was going on in the area when last reports reaches here.
