Condemn lathi-charge on NHM Employees
Jammu: Condemning the brutal lathi-charge on National Health Mission (NHM) employees, Provincial President of Women Wing of National Conference Satwant Kaur Dogra today termed the BJP-PDP government as arrogant and inhuman for mercilessly cane charging the women employees including pregnant women.
In a statement Satwant Kaur Dogra said that male police cops crossed all limits of brutality by pushing, hitting, beating and humiliating the female employees. They not only cane charged the NHM employees but also the passersby. This is not the way male cops are supposed to treat women, either they are ignorant of law they uphold or they are simply using these situations as opportunities to rough up females. She questioned the meagre deployment of female police personnel and also criticized the silence of J&K State Women Commission on the issue.
She said the BJP’s slogan of “Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao” was just to fool the common people to reap political benefits. The employees were peacefully protesting against the government for redressal of their genuine demands and the government is not allowing the employees to air their genuine grievances.
Extending full support to protesting NHM employees, Satwant said the government was not serious about the future of 13000 NHM employees of J&K. The NHM provides health care services not only in urban but also in rural and far-off areas of the state but they are not even paid their wages in time which is most unfortunate. She demanded that government should address the genuine demands of employees and ensure that the present strike doesn’t affect health care facilities in the state
