Authorities impose restrictions in SeK, downtown Srinagar on Sat
Srinagar, Jan 12 : Authorities have imposed restrictions under section 144 CrPc in Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and downtown Srinagar besides parts of civil lines on Saturday as precautionary measure following as strike called by separatists against civilian killings in the valley.
According to the District Magistrate Srinagar, restrictions will be imposed in the areas falling under the jurisdictions of Police Stations Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal.
“Restrictions will partially also be imposed in Kralkhud and Maisuma in Srinagar on Saturday as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident,” he said.
“The restrictions shall not be applicable to government employees, universities, essential services like banks or those taking or invigilating examinations,” he added.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), consisting separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, had called for a strike on Saturday against civilian killings in the Valley.
Meanwhile, Chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq was again put under house arrest in this summer capital late in the evening on Friday.
