Srinagar, Jan 13: Alleging that ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition government has failed on all fronts, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief in Jammu and Kashmir G A Mir has asked party cadres to gear up for Panchayat polls in the state next month.
The PDP is using different language at different places to mislead people to get benefit politically, Mr Mir said while addressing a meeting on Saturday here.
The PCC President alleged that the PDP was changing colours like chameleon for the sake of power even it sacrificed its ideology and joined hands with communal fascist forces, as a result, people were feeling exploited and betrayed, besides there is a great anger among the people.
He said PDP BJP cannot escape the responsibility of damages caused to peace process started by the previous government. Both the Parties have exploited people for power game, he alleged.
Urging Party cadres to gear up for Panchayat Polls being held next months Mr Mir said Congress Party is committed to strengthen the democratic institutions of the state.
However, he blamed the ruling dispensation for playing deceits over democratic process in the State. But, he said, Congress will ensure that the authority of democratic institutions are not eroded. However, he alleged that the ruling dispensation has already done great damages.
He said that PDP with the fear of defeat in Anantng Lok Sabha by-election ensured deferment of Parliamentary Elections on the pretext of deteriorating situation. Now the ruling parties are going to hold Panchayat Elections, he said adding that he wanted to ask the government as to what measures it will take to ensure safety and security of the contestants.
This Government cannot be trusted because it will anytime escape or take U-Turn after sensing defeat in these elections also.
