Truck crushes five people to death in Jalaun


Jalaun, May 16  Five people, including three women, died on the spot and three others severely injured when a speeding truck rammed into them near Govindam Dhaba at Jhansi-Kanpur highway late on Tuesday night.
Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Nath Tewari on Wednesday said the accident occurred when a truck rammed into a group of people standing at divider, resulting in on the spot of death of five people and injuries to three others.
The people of Jakor village were on way to Bithur for taking holy dip in the river Ganga.
The deceased were identified as Kavita (8), Rahul Kushwaha (35), Kailashi (45), Ramkaran (30) and Rajni (25) and injured were rushed to nearby hospital, from where they were referred to Varanasi hospital. Meanwhile, truck driver managed to escape and a manhunt was launched to nab the accused driver. (UNI)
