‘We The Human celebrate National Doctors Day’

Jammu, Jul 01 : In a function organised at Committee Hall of Amar Singh Club Jammu by “We The Human”, a public charitable trust, a number of doctors were awarded with lifetime achievement awards for their remarkable services rendered to ameliorate sufferings of mankind. The function was attended by senior resource persons of trust and noted environmentalists viz., S. Prem Singh, R S Jasrotia, P K Ganju, Kanwar Y.S Manhas Retired Principle Secretary(Law), Ajay Sahney, S K Arora, Shiv Raina, Mahinder Kumar, B D Choudhary and others.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Gurucharan Singh Chairman of the trust informed that “National Doctors’ Day” is celebrated all over India on 1st of July, every year, to commemorate birth as well as death anniversary of the most famous physician of India Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (Dr. B C Roy) to pay homage and tributes to him. He was born on 1st of July 1882 and he passed away on 1st July 1962, after rendering 80 years of his great services in this world. After completing his higher studies from London, he came back to India and served Indian public. He served as 2nd chief Minister of West Bengal also. He was honoured with the great Indian civilian award- “Bharat Ratna”.
S. Prem Singh thanked and complimented Doctors for devoting their services for needy and down trodden strata of society. He said that we needed to acknowledge the fact that Dr. B C Roy is role models for all doctors in India. Indian doctors try to work with great efficiency even in hostile situations where they are confronted with pressure of ever increasing population and shortage of doctors as well as apprehensions and eventualities of human error(s), which result in doctor and patients clashes, witnessed many times.
Y.S Manhas, Principal Secretory (Law) Retired from West Bengal, while expressing his views on this occasion, said that doctors comprise intellectual class of the society and are entrusted with noble job of providing health and medical care help to people.
P K Ganju while speaking on the occasion said for people doctors rank next to God in treating their ailments and sufferings and doctors should always maintain this trust with their dedication and professionalism.
A K Verma, threw light over activities of the trust which are dedicated towards nature and mankind. Apart from generating awareness among common masses against growing cases of cancer and other diseases in our state because of use of excessive sprays of toxic chemical fertilizers, insecticides, pesticides & hormonal growth regulators as well as use of artificial carcinogenic colours & ripening agents, in the market, for artificial ripening of vegetables & fruits and other environmental hazards caused by polythene bags and single use plastics, the trust is regularly organising free of cost specialized medical camps with free distribution of costly medicines and health care products in far flung and remote areas with the cooperation and help extended by doctor fraternity. Farmers are being guided to shift back to traditional agricultural system.
R S Jasrotia said on the occasion that when young and energetic professionals join together to serve the society with commitment, wonders can happen. He further said that the endeavor to associate the doctors with this organization is to provide free specialised Medicare to the poor strata and rural masses at theirvdoor steps and build up trust and healthy relationship between doctors and the masses. He complimented the doctors for sparing their valuable time for treating the needy patients.

Ophthalmology with PG Residency Medicine and Dr Mashkoor Ahmed Wani Dermatology Venereology and Leprosy Associate Professor Department of Dermatology GMC Jammu were given life time awards for services rendered to ameliorate sufferings of mankind, while serving on different posts in government or private sector and also for having been rendered voluntary services to public especially in rural areas.
