BJP yet to take final call on contesting Parl by-polls
Srinagar: BJP Sunday said that the party is awaiting the decision from the centre leadership about contesting on by-polls on two Parliamentary seats in Kashmir valley.
BJP Ashok Kaul State General Secretary (Org) told KNS that the state leadership has given its suggestions to National General Secretary, BJP Ram Madhav yesterday in Jammu.
“We have not decided yet whether to field our candidates or support PDP candidates. Party’s President Amit Shah will take a final decision on the matter,” Koul told KNS.
He said that Madhav will meet Amit Shah to convey to him the state leadership’s suggestions. “Amit will take the final decision, which will be conveyed to us tomorrow. By Monday evening, things will be clear,” he said.
PDP has fielded Tasaduq Mufti and Nazir Khan as candidates for Anantnag and Srinagar parliamentary seats. Though BJP claims its membership in lakhs in Kashmir region, however, political observers say that it does not have any significant voter support in the valley.
