I am a fighter of PDP: Imran Ansari

He had resigned from his portfolio last month

Srinagar: Ahead of Parliamentary by-polls to two seats in Kashmir valley, PDP has convinced its disgruntled minister Imran Ansari following the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s “assurance” to him of “addressing all his concerns”.

This step will have an advantage for PDP in those assembly segments in the valley which have Shia voters since Ansaris wield influence in Shia-populated areas.

“I am a fighter of PDP,” Imran told KNS. “I have started campaigning for the party’s candidates in Kashmir,” he added.

Imran had resigned from his ministerial portfolio following reshuffle of few ministries last month when PDP MLA from Amira Kadal Altaf Bukhari was inducted into the cabinet.

“I assured him (Ansari) of addressing all his concerns. I will look into all the issues,” Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had said recently after Imran met her at her Gupkar residence last week and was made in-charge of Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency which would go to the polls on April 9.

He had resigned after his portfolio of Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports was not changed. Reportedly, Mehbooba has asked him to resume his office.

Asked what assurance was given to him by the chief minister, Imran said it was reported in media.
