Masarat Alam booked under new case; remanded to judicial custody

 

Baramulla:  Incarcerated Muslim League chairperson, Masarat Alam Bhat was Thursday booked under a new FIR No 158/2016 registered in Baramulla police station.

A spokesperson of ML said that even thought Masarat was in jail during 2016, even then a case has been registered against him.

“How can a person commit an offence outside jail when he is behind bars,” the spokesperson asked.

He said that Masarat was produced before CJM Baramulla who sent him on judicial remand till March 31.

Pertinently, Masarat was released on Wednesday after a bail was produced to the jail authorities however he was immediately re-arrested by a police party.

The bail, which was upheld by the Session Court Bandipora after rejecting a state petition against it was produced before the district jail Baramulla authorities.

Masarat is undergoing imprisonment since October 2010 barring forty days after he was arrested for spearheading then people’s uprising.
