Vigilance arrests 5 SMC officials on corruption charges
Srinagar: Besides other employees anti-graft body Vigilance Organization has arrested top five officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation on charges of corruption.
In a statement to media, Vigilance Organization said that it has arrested Muhammad Ashraf Warsi (Enforcement Officer),Fayaz Ahmad Khan and Bilal Ahmad Baba (Ward Officers), Urfan Hussain Joo and Bashir Ahmad Bhat (Building Inspectors), against whom and other employees of SMC Srinagar, a case vide FIR number 7/2017 U/S 5(1)d, 5(2) PC Act Svt, 2006, Section 4-A P. C (Amendment Act-2014) r/w Section 109 RPC was registered on the outcome of Joint Surprise Check conducted in association with Engineering wing of Vigilance Organization, where under it was surfaced that the above mentioned employees and others of SMC Srinagar, in connivance with the owner of the Hotel Royal Arabia namely Abdul Majid Matoo S/o Ghulam Ahmad Matoo R/o Sadribal Srinagar have allowed the illegal construction behind Khyber Hospital at Khayam Colony Srinagar by violating the approved building permission No. 441 of 2013, dated 29-06-2013, wherein plinth area of the construction was 2685 sfts with height of 45 fts which stands violated to plinth area to 3692.5 sfts and height 67 fts and other alterations, further the first floor was approved for stilt parking and same has been violated by way of changing the same into restaurant and reception. Besides have allowed constructing a double storey Servants Quarter with dimension of 702 sfts, without any permission for pecuniary gains. Further investigation into the case is going on.
