DGP’s call for introspection

By holistically analysing the situation in Kashmir, one cannot help but give a thorough thought to the statement made by the Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid who called for introspection on Kashmir situation to find out what ‘we have brought this heaven on earth to’. His remarks that ‘Kashmiri youths are for peace and for living a life of peace’ shows the concern the police chief harbours for the youth and wants to take them out of the quagmire of confusion and vicious circle of violence they are caught in. Of course, no one likes violence and everyone wants to live a peaceful life but to offer solutions and way-outs and taking initiatives in this regard is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, the serious endeavours by Mr Vaid in reshaping the destiny of Valley youth are obvious; his pro-people policies and the way he brought the situation under control through public meetings and other initiatives in such a brief period deserve all hail and appreciation. Prior to holding the charge of DGP, the record of Shesh Paul Vaid – a 1986-batch IPS officer of J&K cadre – as Special DGP (Law and Order) speak itself. Take the humane side of the State’s police head, he took the first of its kind initiative for the police personnel suffering from cancer and other diseases that they can perform their duties from any part of the state as per their convenience. So, the need of the hour for the people is pay heed to the call of DGP which will prove, in the long run, in the better interest of the State and ultimately bring peace, prosperity, and stability in the region. Let’s introspect.
