Srinagar: State High Court on Tuesday quashed Public Safety Act (PSA) of eight prisoners and directed their immediate release.
The said prisoners were arrested and lodged in different jails for participating in people’s uprising 2016.
Sources said that those whose PSA was quashed include, Mashooq Ahmad Malla Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Baghat Pulwama, Ishfaq Ahmad Parray Hajin Bandipora, Ashiq Hussain Dar Maisuma Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Salia Baramulla, Irshad Ahmad Paul Budgam, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir Sopore and Ghulam Nabi Gojri of Sopore.
They said that the high court endorsed the arguments put forward by the counsels of the above prisoners, Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, Advocate BA Tak and Advocate Nasir Qadri and directed for their release.
