Incessant rains cause water scarcity in Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH,APR 07–While the inhabitants of various areas of Bhaderwah  are facing scarcity of water from past one week, the PHE officials said that the incessant downpour is the reason behind the dearth in supply.The problem is severe in almost all areas included Bhaderwah town . “We have been suffering without water from last three days . We are facing immense problems. We don’t know what to drink, not to talk of having a bath. I don’t know what the PHE authorities are doing,” said Abdul Kabir Malik  of Mohalla Khakhal ,Bhaderwah .

The residents also said that they have not been provided by any alternatives by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE).“The worst part is that even when we understand what the problem might be, the PHE department pays least heed to our issues. We have seen no tankers here. They could have at least done that,” said a resident Shahnawaz Ahmed of Masjid Mohalla ,Bhaderwah .“We are facing acute shortage of drinking water from last two days. Despite reminders, the PHE authorities failed to restore the water supply subjecting us to inconvenience,” said the residents of Bhaderwah to this Journalist . However, Manzoor Mir , AEE Bhaderwah  told  that the incessant rains caused the scarcity of water.“The water in rivers  is supplied to these areas and due to rain that is muddy . It was not clean because of the rains. We are trying to restore the supply ,” said Mir . .When asked how long will it take to reinstate the supply he said, “It will be done by tomorrow. We working on it and are positive that the affected areas will get water by tomorrow.”
