J&K was ruined due to monopoly of NC: Zulfkar
Interacts with tribal community at Srinagar
Srinagar, April 7: Accusing National Conference as power hungry party, PDP leader and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that the era of political monopoly ended in 2002 when Peoples Democratic Party provided an alternate platform for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Interacting with representatives of tribal community at Srinagar, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that there was monopoly of National Conference in past and they ruined the state only because they know that they are the rulers every time. He said that this monopoly of one party has turned fatal for Jammu & Kashmir in Past and people still taste the brunt of that monopoly. ‘This party enjoyed power for many decades during which they deteriorated the situation of Jammu & Kashmir and make it a militancy zone and one of the corrupt state’, he said.
Terming PDP as alternate of the earlier single party politics in Jammu & Kashmir, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that it was only after 2002 that NCs monopoly received big jolt as people get an alternate. He said that PDP is not a political party but a movement for peace, justice and dignity for people.
Recalling the pre-2002 era, Zulfkar said that when militancy erupted in the state following rigging in elections, everybody was feeling unsafe and no government was ready to listen to the miseries of the people. ‘People used to live life of a prisoner and they were sandwiched between two guns. There was chaos, tension, crackdowns, kidnappings, encounters, harassments and in short life had become hell but PDP managed an atmosphere of peace in which people started living with dignity’’, he said.
The Minister said that the situation was changed only because an alternate political outfit was empowered by the people to represent them in the power corridors. He said that due to visionary approach of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the state turned to normalcy and the anonymity between Indian and Pakistan also ended with hand shake of Atal-Nawaz which was really a great shift in the situation of sub continent. The Minister said that PDP is still committed to work for peace and dignity of people and people must support the party so that the mission is accomplished fully.
Appealing the voters of Srinagar and Anantnag to participate in elections and support PDP. He said that people are well aware about the parties like NC and Congress and they should choose right party and right candidate in the election. ‘’If people want peace and dignity, they must support PDP’’, he said adding that other parties have given them crackdowns and STF and these parties have already been tried by the people.
The Minister also appeal tribal community to come forward and support PDP candidates. He said that nobody from 1947 to 2014 think for them. ‘It was first step of Mufti Government in 2014 that he constituted Tribal Ministry which is biggest ever gift to tribal people who were harassed and exploited by others in past’’, he added.
