Urge to boycott elections proposed for re-poling on April 13
Srinagar: Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq & Mohammad Yasin Malik on Tuesday, hailing people for complete &unprecedented poll boycott urged to boycott elections proposed for re-poling on April 13 in poll bound segments & make election boycott a success.
In a statement issued to media, they asked people to once again reject Delhi and its henchmen. Peoples verdict against occupation is loud and clear & it is their commitment to achieving their fundamental political right & expressing their will and aspirations, said resistance leaders.
They said it is a victory and deferment of polls vindicates that state rulers and pro-Indian parties have virtually accepted defeat. GOI own index of treating elections as a gauge of people’s faith in Indian democracy stands completely exposed as they were completely rejected and resisted by the people in one part of the valley and forced to be postponed in another, said they.
Meanwhile joint leadership has called back its shutdown call for April 12 and said that wherever and whenever these elections will be staged, people will observe shutdown and stay away from these elections. Resistance leaders said that exemplary velour and courage once again displayed by the people and particularly youth has marked a mile stone in the history of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
People’s verdict served a message to the India and the world that their goal is the right to self-determination and nothing else. It has sent shivers and shock to Delhi, said resistance leaders in a joint statement. Resistance leaders said that in the face of extreme repression, where the state’s main instrument, the police and armed forces have been given a free run to murder and mayhem, forcing the state to back down speaks volumes about the bravery and resolve of the Kashmiris.
Calling people to join Friday prayers in Budgam on April 14, the leaders asked to show their solidarity with the families of brave hearts martyred by forces on April 09.
Election boycott is a significant part of our resistance movement and people will boycott these elections and observe shutdown, said joint resistance leaders. Elections to parliament, assembly, panchayats or municipalities won’t serve any purpose and farcical elections in the territory could not be a substitute to the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, said resistance leaders.
It is a victory said resistance leaders, while referring to April 09 and said that If there conscience is there, then better for them to shun egoistic approach and accept people’s verdict. People are enough mature and they do understand that they were exploited on hollow slogans of “Sadak, Pani & Bijli.”
Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq & Mohammad Yasin Malik extended their gratitude to people and particularly to youth for their exemplary sacrifices and said that we need to pursue mission with same spirit and passion.
Joint leadership in their statement rejected blame game against Pakistan and said that it is ridiculous to blame Pakistan and it depicts their frustration. Ours is an indigenous movement, they said & instead it is seven lakh forces personnel involved in brutal killings in state. It is their shameful act to accuse Pakistan and instead under a well thought plane genocide in state is being carried by Indian forces and their masters, said resistance leaders.
Referring to painful events of April 09, leaders said that neither an encounter occurred nor any militant from Pakistan was there, however it was Indian forces that killed eight unarmed and innocent youth and injuring more than 150.
Power thirsty political parties are responsible for this bloodshed, said resistance leaders. Blaming NC, PDP and other pro-Indian parties for the mayhem, the resistance leaders said that they are accountable for these killings.
For the people of Kashmir this is a clear ideological, political and moral victory. This is a huge achievement and people should be proud of it, said leadership. They said that the blood of our children and youth was spilled mercilessly on the streets across Srinagar, especially in Budgam and Ganderbal, where it touched new heights of barbarity.
