Joint resistance leaders calls for shutdown in poll areas
Srinagar: United resistance leadership comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday called for shutdown in poll-bound areas on Thursday( April 13), the day when there is re-polling in 38 polling booths of Budgam district in Srinagar constituency .
We hope people in their befitting reply will reject this drama once again and boycott these elections with same spirit as witnessed on April 09, said, resistance leaders.
The leadership said that state administration has turned poll bound areas into a military garrison but our people are brave enough and with their exemplary strength and resolve will once again reject these shame elections.
Repolling is one more deceit being orchestrated by puppet regime and main motive behind re-polling in poll bound areas is to increase the voting percentage through rigging and by using bogus voters, said leadership.
Commenting over the news published in local newspapers, the resistance leaders said that they have called a public gathering in Budgam on April 14 and people while reaffirming their faith (Tajdeed-e-Uhad) with movement will offer their condolences with bereaved families of slain youth.
They said that people through poll boycott conveyed that they are sensitive and mature enough for their political struggle. It will support our case & prove positive for ongoing struggle against occupation. We are sure it will impress international community & compel them to take notice of present development and will also shake conscience of people in India, said resistance leaders.
Meanwhile resistance leaders expressed deep grief over the death of a woman in Tahab Pulwama. They strongly condemned state forces for their brutality and while expressing their sorrow for loss of precious lives, said that unbridled powers vested in them and use of brute force against civilians is of great concern.
Referring to indiscriminate use of force by men in uniform, resistance leaders said that they enjoy impunity and license to kill anybody and till now no single forces personnel was brought to book or asked for the brutalities against peaceful civilians.
In their statement, the resistance leaders expressed their anguish against the indiscriminate use of smoke shells, & said there seems no letup as experts have declared these weapons as lethal and asked authorities to stop this practice against humans.
Resistance leaders in their appeal to organizations for human rights & international community urged to take cognizance of reports of use of lethal weapons and atrocities being inflicted by forces against civilian population in nook and corner of the state and asked to use their influence for restricting these lethal weapons.
