While addressing the Press Conference he said, “Women were seen screaming and begging for mercy inside a shed as a large number of men kick the tin structure and chant slogans”. The family of five, including 75-year-old Sabir Ali and a nine-year-old girl, were beaten mercilessly by these men.
Mian Altaf also termed the behaviour of IGP Jammu as unfortunate, adding that the nomadic families are asked to seek permissions as if they are travelling from one country to another. “Why police acted as spectators when the these nomadic family was brutally being assaulted, their homes were set on fire, adding that instead of acting why the families are asked to seek permissions if they are moving within their country and state” Mian Altaf asked.
“Such episodes are intolerable and can disturb atmosphere in entire Pir Panjal region” he said demanding stern action against those involved in the act.
He said, “Jammu and Kashmir is known for its rule of law and if CM Mehbooba Mufti is not able to maintain that then it’s a serious concern for all of us”.
