New video of 30 militants in Kashmir doing rounds on social media

Srinagar: A new video of around 30 militants in Army fatigues flaunting assault rifles filmed at an unknown location in Kashmir valley is doing the rounds on social media despite ban on mobile internet for the past 10 days.

In the video, which runs around one-and-a-half minutes, around 30 militants could be seen flaunting their assault weapons, mostly AK-47 rifles, and posing for the camera one-by-one.

The militants, wearing Army fatigues and ammunition pouches, could be seen parading and raising their weapon in the air.

A police official said they were checking the veracity of the video, adding they are also trying to locate the area in which the video was filmed.

This is for the first time that so many militants could be seen in a video. Earlier videos uploaded on social media used to have five to 10 militants in them.

The trend of uploading videos and pictures by militants on social networking sites, including Facebook and Whatsapp, was set by slain Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani whose death in an encounter with security forces on July 8, triggered massive clashes that left over 100 civilians dead and over thousands others injured.
