Clashes in Sopore after Friday prayers

Srinagar: Clashes erupted between the government forces and protesters in Main bazaar of  north Kashmir’s Sopore town after congregational Fridayprayers.

Protesters attempted to march from Jamia Masjid area to main Chowk shouting pro-freedom slogans.

but were stopped by the government forces already deployed in the main Chowk.

This resulted in clashes in the area as the angry protesters pelted stone on forces that retaliated with tear smoke shells.

According to reports the Friday prayer were held at old Jamai Masjid Sopore of North Kashmir’s Baramulla District soon.

after Friday prayers youth assembled near old Jamia Masjid area of Sopore and started shouting pro-freedom and Pro-Azadi slogans within short time the large gathering of angry youth started pelting stones on deployed forces who in turn retaliated by lobbing tear gas shells and pellets to disperse the agitated youth.

According to reports police resorted to teargas shelling and sound grenades to quell the protests and push back the agitated youths.
