DGP Vaid visits slain policeman’s home

 

Srinagar: Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dr. S.P Vaid Tuesday visited the home of Ishafiq Ahmad Hajam at Zakoora Srinagar.

The DGP was accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani, SSP Srinagar, Imtiaz Ismail Parray and other senior police officers of the city.

Ishafiq Ahmad Hajam son of Abdul Ahad Hajam along with other four police personnel and two guards of JK bank were killed by militants in Kulgam yesterday.

“Emotional scenes were witnessed during the DGP’s visit to the family and the mood of the people was somber,” a police statement said adding huge number of people had gathered at the residence of the Ishfaq.

According to the statement the DGP consoled them and expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.

Police said that while interacting with the bereaved family DGP said “whole Police department is at the back of bereaved families and shares their grief and sorrow. He assured that every support would be provided to the family of the martyr”.

According to police statement, “as a mark of respect for the martyr the Batpora area of Zakoora observed shutdown. The shops and other business establishments remained closed.”
