GoI should start talks with all stake holders to resolve Kashmir imbroglio: Sikh group

Srinagar: Expressing concern over deteriorating law and order situation in the valley, All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) today urged the Government of India (GoI) to start dialogue process with the all  stakeholders, including separatists, in the state in order to find a solution to the Kashmir imbroglio.

“Dialogue alone can solve the Kashmir issue and denial to carry out talks would not lead to any solution,” APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said.

He said people living in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh divisions have peculiar problems and same can be addressed only when parleys are held with the concerned stakeholders.

Mr Raina said that the Sikh community is concerned over delay in talks with all stakeholders as it is adding to the alienation which could have serious implication in the near future.

“There are many small groups in the state and GoI should start talking to the representatives of these small groups. This will build up the whole process and in the near future other stakeholders can be involved in the dialogue process. It does be-hove New Delhi to say that no talks would be carried out in Kashmir,” said Mr Raina.

The APSCC chairman said that if the center does not want to talk to separatists right now then they should talk to people with whom they are comfortable in talking to at this point of time.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should follow the footsteps of BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee while handling Kashmir and the situation emerging in the valley.

“Mr Modi has a decisive mandate and he should behave like a statesman and take concrete measures to solve Kashmir issue. New Delhi should understand that situation in Kashmir cannot be normalized without taking separatists on board. As such there is no harm to talking to people belonging to the different regions of the state even if they oppose your policies,” Mr Raina said.

The APSCC chairman said that police and other security agencies should desist from taking punitive action against the students while they carry out any protest demonstration. He said that hearts can be won by love and compassion and not by force and compulsion.
