Debate competition on human rights awareness held at PHQ
Team CID declared the winner; Traffic Jammu bags 2nd prize
SRINAGAR, MAY 25: Police Telecommunication Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police today organized annual debate on human rights awareness at Police Auditorium PHQ, Srinagar. Theme of the debate this year was “Respect for human rights is an obligation of every citizen irrespective of his caste, colour and religion in the society.”
The annual debate is organised to sensitize the police personnel about their responsibilities towards human rights, particularly during hostile conditions. Teams and individual officers from PHQ, Security, Crime, CID, Traffic, Telecommunication, Auxilary, Civil Defence and Home guards participated in the debate.
Director Police Telecommunication J&K Sh. Hilal Ahmad Shah was the chief guest of the function. He exhorted upon the police personnel to safeguard human rights of every citizen under all circumstances and also stressed for bringing awareness among the personnel about their role and responsibility in protecting the rights of people. He also highlighted the aim of organising the debate on human rights every year.
A jury comprising of Dr.Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, AIG Welfare PHQ, Sh. Gowhar Hussain Mir, Joint Director Prosecution PHQ, Sh. Javaid Ahmad,Deputy Commandant IRP 2nd Battalion and Smt. Albeena Malik, Dy. SP Welfare PHQ ,under the chairmanship of Sh. Rafiq-ul-Hassan, DIG Armed Kashmir adjudged the speakers. CID J&K team was declared winner, while team from Traffic J&K was adjudged runners up. Dy. SP Sh. Burhan-ul-Haq Kanth was given Ist prize in individual category and Dy. SP Sh.Mohammad Shafi was given 2nd prize. CPO Rajesh Bakshi and Inspector Jalal-ud-din got 3rd prize jointly.
Prizes were distributed among the winners by DPT and DIG AP Kashmir
