International Day of Yoga celebrated at Srinagar International Airport
Srinagar:The Airports Authority of India, Srinagar International Airport organised an event in collaboration with 35 BN CRPF on 21st June 2017 to mark the 3rd International Yoga Day. Inspite of the bad weather the celebration commence at 8.00 AM in International Arrival Terminal an iconic location known at the Airport. The event was well publicised prior to its celebration which resulted in more than 150 yoga enthusiasts participated. The programme, lasting about an hour was conducted under the supervision of yoga teachers, Shri Inderjit Singh and Shri Amit Kumar from BSF that included an overview of the benefits of yoga and demonstration of the important asana and postures. The programme was properly arranged to spread awareness of yoga in all aspects, both for the uninitiated as well as the practitioners. There was enthusiastic participation at the event by about 150 people, from AAI,SIA, representative from Stake Holders, CRPF, airlines and passengers. Over-all, the event was well received and served to highlight the importance of yoga, as a part of a healthy all round routine.
While addressing the yoga enthusiasts Shri Shard Kumar, Airport Authority of India, Srinagar International Airporturged the all stake holders to adopt the International Day of Yoga. He stated that Yoga is both an art as well as a science. “Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being. Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and Nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us to deal with climate change. Let us work towards for adopting an International Yoga Day.
