Srinagar:While felicitating the entire Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Joint Resistance Leadership on Monday saluted the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their resilience and steadfastness towards the on-going freedom struggle.
The joint leadership, comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, had also framed a joint resolution to be passed at Eidgah during Eid prayers.
With the government caging entire pro-freedom leadership, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while addressing Eid gathering at the historic Eidgah in downtown, read the resolution which was passed amid-pro-freedom slogans.
Mirwaiz is under house detention at his Nigeen residence and Syed Ali Geelani continues to remain caged at his Hydepora residence. JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik has been lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.
The joint resistance leadership, in the resolution, expressed solidarity and sympathy with the families of those whose dear ones were killed, and those whose sons are languishing in various jails across India. “We are with those whose eyes are moist on this day of auspicious occasion,” read the resolution.
The resolution termed the NIA raids on the houses of pro-freedom leaders and a few Kashmiri businessmen as “illegal” and maintained that these are new ploys being used by New Delhi to defame the freedom struggle of Kashmir which is based on truth and priceless sacrifices. “If such raids doesn’t stop, there will be serious repercussions and the entire responsibility will lie on the State government and Delhi itself,” it read.
The resolution further read that Kashmir’s pro-freedom leadership makes it clear that they stand with the Muslim brethren of Jammu region and all the designs aimed at created a regional or communal wedge will be defeated.
“In no case, whatever happened in 1947, will not be allowed to repeat,” the resolution read while referring to massacre of Muslims in the Jammu region during partition of the sub-continent.
The resolution also expressed solidarity with all the political prisoners who are languishing in various jails for no fault and also with those who were framed in fake cases. “We strongly condemn the government decision of not releasing the Kashmiri prisoners on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr,” the resolution read.
The Joint Resistance Leadership urged the international community and other world human rights organisations to build pressure on Delhi so that rising war crimes and unabated rights abuses are stopped forthwith in Kashmir. The resolution also read that the leadership is duty bound to take the movement of right to self-determination to its logical conclusion.
