Restrictions extended to more areas in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Curfew-like restrictions imposed in Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and downtown Srinagar yesterday have been extended to more areas in the old city and civil lines as a precautionary measure to prevent any violence today, when separatists had called for a general strike on 86th death anniversary of 22 martyrs, killed during Dogra rule outside the central Jail, Srinagar in 1931.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and a number of her cabinet colleagues and Director General of Police (DGP) paid tributes to martyrs at Khawaja Bazar martyrs graveyard in the downtown under unprecedented security arrangements this morning.
However, government offices and banks remained closed on government holiday on martyrs day.   (UNI)
