Sushma Swaraj’s statement arrogant: Shabir Shah
‘Indian leadership’s contradictory statements reveal their weak stand on Kashmir issue’
SRINAGAR: Terming the statement of India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Kashmir as arrogant, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Friday said on one hand New Delhi talks about dialogue with Pakistan and on other side is repeating the rhetoric on the disputed status of Jammu Kashmir thereby creating a ridiculous situation in the state.
In a statement issued to press, Shah said if Sushma Swaraj terms Jammu Kashmir as “integral part” of India, then on what is New Delhi going to talk with Islamabad. “And if J&K is a disputed territory, then why is India scared of taking all the stakeholders on dialogue table or the intervention of third country like China (to resolve the issue),” he said.
Shah said if New Delhi’s “integral part” remark is final, it gives ample proof that India is unwilling to talk on Kashmir and is responsible for making the subcontinent a war zone.
The DFP chairman said such contradictory statements by Indian leadership reveals their weak stand on Kashmir issue. “The fact is that India has no justification for occupying J&K through military might. For the last 70 years, the people of the state have been demanding the right to decide their future as was given to 550 small states during the Partition of India,” he said.
Shah said India by trashing all the ethics and values occupied Jammu Kashmir through military invasion. He suggested Indian leaders to read history and realise how they are escalating tensions in South Asia by denying the reality.
“New Delhi should read writing on the wall and bear in mind that oppression and suppression won’t stop us from demanding freedom from India but such tactics strengthen our resolve,” he said.
Shah said India’s foreign office spokesperson Gopal Baglay by linking Kashmir with terrorism has not only denied the reality but also tried to give up a cover to Indian forces’ atrocities on the people of the state.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah talked over phone to the family of a youth Aaqib Gul who was martyred in Radpora, Budgam, and told them that “we’re committed to their mission of freedom and will continue our struggle till we achieve our goal.
On Shah’s directions, a delegation led by Molvi Bashir Ahmad visited Radpora and Goripora, Budgam and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved families.
