KUPWARA : False PSA was allegedly slapped on a youth Mohammad Asif Bhat resident of Lalpora Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Family of youth alleged that the police station Lalpora SHO Muzaffar Jan and SP Kupwara Shamsher Hussain booked Aasif in a false controversy and slapped Public Safety Act on him.
Family said that Aasif and five other youth were kept in police custody as a precautionary measures among which four have been released after prolonged false procedure.
“On Burhan Wani’s anniversary week police approached us and asked to handover our son to police custody as a precautionary measure. Since then SHO Lalpora was playing tricks with us by saying that our son will be released soon. On Saturday morning we came to know that Aasif has been shifted to Kothbilwaal jail without having any FIR registered against him” said family of Mohammad Aasif.
They said that police is luring the youth towards militancy by harassing them and putting them in jails under false allegations. They said that if Aasif was a teacher in private school and had no connection with any stone pelting and other criminal activities.
“Police is forcing youth to join militancy by attempting different tricks and wrong policies and booking them in false cases. If my brother joined militancy after release SP Kupwara and SHO Lalpora will be responsible,” said his brother Maqsood Ahmad Bhat.
The family members said that Aasif was in police custody for two and a half month.The family members have appealed DGP and Chief Minister look into the matter otherwise they will not be responsible if their son joins militancy after release.
Meanwhile locals of the area said that the SHO Lalpora is spreading terror in the area, arresting youth and harassing locals day in and day out.
The resident said that if the police officer continued doing so, the situation will worsen in the area and there will be one more mass uprising in the area.
The residents of Kupwara have appealed the DGP and the CM to transfer the SHO, so that peace is maintained in the area. (PTK)
