Guwahati: Railway link between North East region and rest of India remained snapped for the second day today as flood waters continued to inundate and threaten tracks in different parts of Assam, West Bengal and Bihar.
Heavy rainfall in West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and other NE states has resulted in railway operations being severely hampered as rain water has affected railway tracks at several places in Katihar and Alipurduar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway.
Though railway lines were initially repaired and restored, but incessant rain has hampered restoration work, NFR sources said here.
Rain water has submerged tracks near Dalkhola, Barsoi, Sudhani stations and the main line connecting NE India with rest of the country being blocked with water under a bridge near Kishanganj station flowing over danger level.
As a result, a number of trains had to be stopped at various stations and a number of other trains had to be cancelled or rescheduled/ short-terminated. (UNI)
