Mir Zahoor inspects Hi-Tech Nursery Baramulla Stresses for preservation, protection, conservation of forest wealth of J&K

BARAMULLA:Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad today visited Baramulla North Kashmir and inspected Hi-Tech Nursery Baramulla.

The Forest Department authorities informed the Minister about the activities of the Department in North Kashmir. It was informed that presently there are 3.37 lakh saplings of different kinds included Kail, Deodara and Cuprous available in the Nursery.

The Minister expressed satisfaction over the working of the Department for planting such type of saplings in the Nursery, However, Mir Zahoor stressed for planting of medicinal plants and fruit bearing plants in the Nursery. He also asked the concerned to maintain the Nursery properly and asked them for maximum plantation in available land of forests and other barrel land so that man animal life conflicts accidents took not place.

Earlier, the Minister convened a meeting with the Officers of Forest, State Forest Corporation (SFC), Forest Protection Force (FPF) and Soil Conservation Departments and discussed and reviewed the overall functioning of these Departments.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister underscored the need for protection, preservation and conservation of the forest wealth of the State. He asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and ensure that there should be no timber smugglings and encroachment of forest land.

Among others, Conservator of Forests North Circle, Mr M M Rather, Joint Director of Forest Protection Force,Kashmir  IFS Irfan Ali Shah, Chief General Manager, SFC North Circle and other Senior Officers of Forest and its allied Departments were present on the occasion.
