Civilian dies, 13 injured in Jahanagir Chowk blast
Srinagar: A civilian was injured while several other were wounded after a suspected militant hurled a grenade on a Para-military Central Reserve Police Force vehicle here in Kashmir capital Srinagar on Thursday evening.
Eyewitnesses said that the grenade was lobbed near Exhibition Crossing when market was abuzz with activity.
City Police Chief Mr Imtiyaz Ismayel Parray told reporters that the man who lobbed the grenade was also injured. He said that wounded have been referred to Hospital for treatment.
Hospital sources said that an injured who hails from Ompora Budgam succumbed to his injuries. Police sources identified the slain as Masood Ahmed Shah.
A police official said that it will be premature to say that the slain man was actually the grenade thrower. “Investigation is on and everything will become clear,” he said.
Reports said over 8 persons have sustained injuries in the blast. (CNS)
