Govt keen to promote sports activities in J&K
6-day Football tournament concludes at Rajbagh in Kathua
JAMMU, OCTOBER 20: Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today said that Government is committed to provide all infrastructure facilities to the sports lovers adding that in this regard instructions have been issued to the Youth Services and Sports (YSS) authorities to upgrade all the stadia with modern line facilities for promotion of sports activities across Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking during a concluding day function of 6-day long football tournament organized by Delhi Public School (DPS) at Rajbagh in Kathua district. He said the football tournament commenced from October 15 and concluding today on October 20, 2017.
The Minister said that Government is all set to give a boost to the sports infrastructure across the State. He appreciated YSS department and Sports Council for announcing to establish football clubs in every nook and corner of the State. He asked to work in the same manner in order to revive hockey in the State. “The government is trying every bit to create world class sports facilities for the local talent to flourish. Our youth has already proved their mettle in the recent sports events at national and international levels,” Singh said.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that Football game is very important for providing energy to the youth of the State. He said that participation of J&K youth in national and international events reflects that Jammu and Kashmir State has vast sports talent which can earn a good name in the world of games.
The Minister appealed the youth to channelize their energies in a right direction rather than falling prey to drugs and other social evils which will take them towards self destruction. He termed sports as good option for youth to improve their personality.
Choudhary Lal Singh urged upon the youth to focus on their goals and put in dedicated efforts to compete and excel at national and international levels. He asked them to channelize their energies in positive direction and create a niche for themselves in the field of sports. He said that more and more football and hockey tournaments should be organized with an aim is to promote the spirit of nationalism and the sport activities in the state. He said that such tournaments help to promote sports talent in the state and expressed hope that these young players will play and bring laurels for the state.
