Rani Mukherji’s father Ram Mukherji passes away
New Delhi: Renowned filmmaker Ram Mukherji, the father of Bollywood actress Rani Mukherji, passed away on Sunday morning, a statement from Rani Mukherji’s spokesperson said. He is survived by his wife Krishna Mukerji, daughter Rani Mukerji and son Raja Mukerji . Ram Mukerji was one of the key associates of S Mukerji and one of the founder members of Filmalaya studios and known for directing films like the Sunil Dutt starrer ‘Hum Hindustani’ and ‘Leader; starring the legend Dilip Kumar, Ram Mukherji passed away at 0600 hours today due to natural causes, the statement said. “Ram Mukerji, respected film-maker, a beloved father and husband, is no more. He passed away on October 22 at 6 am due to natural causes. Close friends and family attended his quiet funeral at 2pm this afternoon,’ the statement said.’He will be sorely missed by his wife Krishna Mukerji, daughter Rani Mukerji, son Raja Mukerji and the rest of the family.” the statement added. Ram Mukherjee’s father Ravindramohan Mukherjee was elder brother of Sashadhar Mukherjee and one of founders of Filmalaya Studios. His wife Krishna Mukherjee is a playback singer, while his son Raja Mukherjee assisted his father in a few films, before making his acting debut with ‘Bidhatar Khela’ (2007).
