Ganderbal 15 Nov (KPS): World famous Tourist spot Sonamarg received Season’s first snowfall today. After long dry spell, Snowfall started in Sonamarg and its adjoining areas this morning.
Sonamarag hill resort which also serves as the base camp (baltal) during the annual Amarnath Yatra , the snowfall began around 2:30 am and by the Wednesday Morning it had accumulated to 2-3 inch depth in Sonamarg & other nearby areas.
Earlier Meteorological department, Sonam Lotus, had said that,“A Western Disturbance is approaching that will subsequently results in rains in plains and snow at hills,.
While as Light snowfall was recorded in Sonamarg and Thajwas the other parts of the district received rain.
With the fall in day temperature, people across the valley have started putting on warm clothes.
