Jammu : A drug peddler was arrested while a criminal was booked under Public Safety Act in two separate cases in this winter capital of the state.
A drug peddler was arrested on Wednesday alongwith 10 grams of heroin in Gangyal area here on city outskirts.
Acting on tip-off, police intercepted a pedestrian near Model Town but he tried to escape.
He was arrested after a hot chase and during search, 10 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession, police added.
They said that a case under NDPS Act has been registered against him.
Tightening grip over criminals by dealing them with iron hand, a hardcore criminal namely Manoj alias Moja, was booked under PSA on Wednesday.
A police spokesman said that a dossier was prepared and submitted to the District Magistrate, Jammu following which he granted orders regarding his detention under PSA.
The criminal was sent to the Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu after arrest, he added.
