JRL calls for shutdown in Kashmir tomorrow against civilian killings

Srinagar, Dec 19 : The joint resistance leadership  (JRL) has given a call for valley-wide shutdown in Kashmir tomorrow to register protest against the  recent killings in Shopian, Handwara-Kupwara and Bandipora districts.

The JRL comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer  Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik gave the call for valley-wide shutdown on Wednesday to protest against the killings in the three districts and search operations in North and South Kashmir.

In a statement they appealed people to observe a shutdown on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the JRL today staged protest in Abi Guzar locality of Srinagar to mourn the civilian killings across Kashmir.

Led by JKLF leader Noor Mohammad Kalwal, dozens of separatist leaders and activists took out a protest march against recent civilian killing spree by forces in Kashmir.

As the rally reached near press enclave, police and forces in large numbers intercepted and not allowed them to move towards Lal Chowk.

The protesters were carrying banners carrying messages like “Stop civilian killings” and “Stop RSS agenda”. They also raised slogans against unabated killings by tigger-happy indian forces.

They highlighted the civilians killings especially Ruby Jan (Shopian)  Asif Iqbal (Thandipora-Kupwara),and Misra of Unisoo- Handwara..

Earlier, talking to media,  kalwal said that JRL is raising its voice against “Indian oppressive behaviour” and unabated killing spree in Kashmir.

“What was the sin of innocent daughters of Kashmir Misra, Ruby Jan and sumo driver Asif Iqbal. Why Kashmiri youth are being killed and why is international community silent on these killings?” Kalwal asked.

He said that this killing spree cannot be tolerated silently and Kashmiris will resist this “genocide” with passion and valour. (Kashmir Wire)
