Panaji, Dec 29 : Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that passing the Trible Talaq Bill in the Lok Sabha was an historic step towards gender equality and social progress and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all the parliamentarians who supported the bill.
In a tweet on Thursday, the Chief Minister said,’Passing the #TripleTalaqBill in Lok Sabha is an historic step towards gender equality and social progress. Congratulations to PM @narendramodi ji, and all parliamentarians who supported it.’
The Lok Sabha on Thursday had passed a bill providing for a prison term to a Muslim man who divorces his wife through instant “triple talaq’ practice which was declared illegal by the Supreme Court on August 22 this year.
