Protest and shutdown observed in Sopore

Sopore: Trade activities remained crippled Wednesday in Sopore town due to protest against the increase in the burglary cases and mysterious fire in the main town on Tuesday in which property worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed.

Shops and other business establishments remained closed on a strike called by local trades federation to registered their protest against alleged negligence by the local administration and the police.

A peacfull protest rally was marched from traders office to general bustand in the presence of traders federation sopore president haji mohd ashraf ganaie and hundreds of shopkeepers protest against fire incident in sopore.

President  said that despite repeated requests to administration to increase vigil on anti-social elements, the incidents of burglary has increased.

They alleged that about a dozen shops besides a restaurant were damaged in a mysterious fire incident.

The shops were looted first and they set on fire, they alleged and demanded property patrolling in the town.
