1 militant killed in encounter, 2 managed to escape in central Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 8: A militants was on Monday killed in an encounter with security forces while two others reportedly managed to escape in central Kashmir district of Budgam, where clashes erupted between protesters and forces.

   Earlier, it was reported that all the three militants were killed. However, body of only one militant was recovered during the searches.

  They said following a tip off about presence of militants, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Zuhama, Budgam on Monday.
However, when the security forces were moving towards particular area in the village, militants hiding there, fired indiscriminately with automatic weapons.

   Security forces also retaliated ensuing in a fierce encounter, they said.
They said a militant was killed in the encounter, whose body has been recovered so far. However, they said two other militants managed to escape.

   Meanwhile, security forces resorted to aerial firing and burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators, who tried to break the security cordin and move towards the encounter site in Budgam, where internet services were suspended for security reasons.
