L&T commissions 360 MW Bheramara Combined Cycle Power Plant in Bangladesh

Mumbai, Jan 09 : Engineering Major, Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) said that compnay has successfully commissioned and handed over the state-of-the-art 360 MW Bheramara Combined Cycle Power Plant Development Project to North West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL),a fully owned subsidiary of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), on January 5, 2018.

After performance testing, the plant capacity has been declared as 410 MW by the customer, company said in afiling with BSE.

The power plant is based in Bheramara of Kushtia district in Bangladesh, which is approximately 250 km from Kolkata,filing added.
L&T said its scope of work included design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the complete power plant on back-to-back turnkey basis for Marubeni Corporation of Japan, with gas turbines, steam turbines and generators from Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Japan
Commenting on the project completion, Mr.
Shailendra Roy, CEO & Managing Director, L&T Power & Whole-Time Director,L&T, said, ”The fact that two power plants were commissioned in quick
succession in Bangladesh, one in December 2017 and the other in January 2018, speaks volumes about L&T’s scale of operations.
