Hundreds of people evacuated as tanker carrying ammonia gas overturns in Goa
Panaji, Jan 19 : Hundreds of residents of Chicalim village near Vasco in South Goa were on Friday evacuated from their homes after a tanker carrying ammonia overturned on Airport Road near the village early morning.
However, disaster response mechanism was pressed into service immediately and people residing in nearby area were asked to vacate their houses as the gas had started spreading around in the vicinity.
Fire tenders sprayed water around the tanker to contain leakage while people from houses around the accident spot felt breathlessness. Some people who complained of uneasiness were admitted to nearby hospitals.
