Night chill intensifies, day temp remains above normal in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 19 : The night chill has intensified as the minimum temperature dipped and settled several degrees below freezing point while day temperature remained above normal in Kashmir valley, where sun was again out on Friday though the intensity of heat was low.

People continued to shiver in the border town of Kargil, which was the coldest place in the region at minus 20 degree Celsius, followed by Leh, where the mercury dipped and settled at minus 13.
8 degree C.

A Met department spokesperson told UNI that weather will remain dry during the next four days in the state, which could result in further dip in the night temperature.
However, he said a fresh Western Disturbance (WD), originating from Arabian Sea which is likely to approach the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, is expected to hit the region on January 23.
