Train service suspended in Kashmir for security reasons

Srinagar, Feb 2 : Train service in Kashmir valley was suspended on Friday for security reasons, following ‘Shopian Chalo’ call by separatists to express solidarity with the families of civilians who died in security force firing during the past two weeks.

‘We have suspended all train runs in the Kashmir valley after a fresh advisory was received from police last night not to operate the train,’ a senior railway official told UNI.

He said therefore no train will run on Budgam-Srinagar to Baramulla track on north Kashmir. Similarly, all train runs between Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region have been cancelled for security reasons.
