Restrictions lifted in SeK, downtown Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 12: Curfew-like restrictions, imposed in the downtown and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and parts of civil lines in Srinagar on Sunday following separatist strike called on the death anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, have been lifted Monday.

Bhat was hanged and later buried in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 11, 1984.

There is no restriction in any part of the city, police said on Monday.

Restrictions under Section 144 CrPC had been imposed in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of M R Gunj, Nowhatta, Rainawari, Safa Kadal and Khanyar in the downtown and SeK since Sunday morning as a precautionary measure to prevent any law and order problem.

All gate of historic Jamia Masjid, where no Friday prayers could be offered for last three weeks, are open today.
