Train service remain suspended in Kashmir for security reasons
Srinagar, Feb 17 : Train service remained suspended on Saturday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where separatists have called for a general strike against shifting of detenues from central jail, Srinagar and killing of Hurriyat Conference (HC) leader by unidentified gunmen.
We have suspended train service in the Kashmir valley following fresh advisory received from police last night, a railway official told UNI.
He said on Friday similar advisory was received to suspend train service between Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north following encounter between militants and security forces at Palhalan, Pattan.
However, trains in south Kashmir were running normally on Friday, he added.
Train service from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region will remain suspended on Saturday, he said.
