Transgression indicates assertiveness of China: India

New Delhi: Saying that Chinese transgression in Ladakh region and recent Doklam standoff are indications of its increasing assertiveness, Chief of the Naval Staff Sunil Lanba on Wednesday said these developments have underscored vulnerability of Siliguri corridor.

“Frequent instance of transgression by PLA across LAC & recent standoff at Doklam are indication of increasing assertiveness of China, as it makes rapid progress economically & militarily. Recent developments have also underscored vulnerability of Siliguri Corridor,” a report published in Times of India quoted Lanba as having said.

The Siliguri corridor is a stretch of land which connects the north-eastern states of India with the mainland and is bounded by Bhutan in the north east, Bangladesh in south and Nepal in east, mentioned the report.
