Four militants killed as Army foils infiltration bid along LoC in Kashmir
Srinagar, June 10 :Four militants were killed on Sunday as the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector in frontier district of Kupwara, a Defence ministry spokesman said.
Col Rajesh Kalia told UNI that troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from PaK in Keran sector in the wee hours under the cover of darkness. When challenged and asked to surrender, the militants opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons, he said, adding that troops also retaliated, ensuing in an encounter.
Col Kalia said so far four militants were killed and operation was going on when the reports last came in.
About 10 militants were killed after they sneaked into this side in north Kashmir during the past few weeks. A soldier was martyred and another injured in one of the encounters.
