People up in arms against dilapidated roads in Chenab Valley
Jammu: Members of Civil Society from Chenab Valley – comprising Kishtwar, Doda, Bhaderwah, Bhalessa, Ramban and Banihal are up in arms against the deteriorating condition of Chenab valley roads.
Civil Society representatives from Kishtwar, said that people of this region are facing hardships due to deteriorating road conditions, lack of health facility and ration scarcity for the last some months.
He said that the local administration and the previous governments have done nothing to solve the problems.
They said that despite repeated reminders and protests, no steps from the administration have been taken to mitigate the suffering of the people.
They strongly criticized the administration for not taking the problem of the people seriously.
They also criticized the politicians of Chenab valley who he said are mute spectators at the time of crises.
As this valley lost many precious lives in road accidents till day. The roads including Batote- Doda, Doda-Bhadarwah, Batote- Kishtwar, Kishtwar-Sinthan Highway and Kishtwar-Padder roads are in very bad conditions as the working agencies (GREF, PMGSY, JKPCC and PWD-R) have failed in restoring these roads.
According to contractors working with BRO told KPS that concerned department does not give permission on time for installing machinery and that is the main reason for the delay of completion of road projects.
The locals once again appeal to the administration to look into the genuine demands of people and address them on priority basis.
